There’s nothing quite like the moment when the characters in your imagination come to life on the page! I just received the first sketches from my illustrator for my upcoming children’s book, Eva and the Best Day Ever, and I couldn’t be more excited to see this story take shape! Eek!
What makes it extra special is how personal this book is. The characters are inspired by my own family, and the story itself comes from our real celebration of my daughter's 4th birthday. When she asked for a cat-themed birthday party, it turned into one of the most fun events we’ve ever planned.
It was a day full of creativity, laughter, and fun. We featured crafts for the children to enjoy: scratch masks shaped like cat faces, temporary tattoos featuring all kinds of cats, and sticker books where kids could design their own feline friends. Those moments of play and imagination inspired the heart of Eva and the Best Day Ever.
Now, seeing our memories reimagined through illustration is pure magic! I can’t wait to share more sneak peeks as the book gets closer to launch, and I hope it brings the same joy to families who read it as we felt living it!

Congratulations on taking this bold step, Jennifer! All the best!
