"Children are constantly learning about themselves and the world around them through experiences that may seem small to adults but feel enormous to them." -Jen Simpson

Hi, I'm Jen!

I'm a children's author who writes warm, adventurous stories about the experiences that shape who we become.

I've always loved stories where I get lost in the pages. Stories that don't just teach lessons, but help us to see ourselves in the character's journey. The books I recall best, are rarely those about extraordinary heroes. Instead, they're about experiences that feel familiar: wanting to fit in, trying something new, facing disappointment, finding courage, making friends, or discovering where you belong in the world.

Becoming a parent deepened my appreciation for those moments. Children are constantly learning about themselves and the world around them through experiences that seem small to adults but enormous to them. A first friendship. A mistake. A success. A challenge they didn't think they could overcome.

These are the stories I love to write.

My books are story-first adventures filled with imagination, discovery, and heart. Rather than teaching lessons directly, I hope they invite children to experience them alongside memorable characters and meaningful journeys.

Whether it's a unicorn searching for belonging, a horse discovering the world beyond his home, or a child navigating an important life moment, my goal is always the same: to create stories that children connect with and families enjoy reading together.

My debut picture book, Eva and the Best Day Ever, was inspired by my daughter's fourth birthday and explores anticipation, disappointment, and finding joy in unexpected places. I'm currently working on additional picture books that continue to explore themes of belonging, discovery, resilience, friendship, and imagination.

When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, reading picture books, or dreaming up new adventures for young readers.

Thank you for visiting. I hope my stories bring a little imagination, connection, and joy to your family!
